  About Us

"Praise Him with tambourine and dancing, praise Him with the strings and flute." Psalm 150:4

The Greenhouse Institute f/ka Expressions of Joy Performing Arts Institute is an independent arts organization which seeks to serve the entire community in its mission of promoting excellence and integrity in the arts through education, exhibition and performance. We are a distinctly Christian organization but unaffiliated with any particular church or denomination. Our students, faculty, staff and institutional clients represent over 40 different churches in the South Florida area.
The Institute arose from and now includes a dance academy teaching kids and adults how to use their artistic gifts for the glory of God. This academy developed out of the intersecting searches of founders, Josi Geyer and Tom Walker (on behalf of his daughters) for a dance ministry which offered both cutting-edge artistic quality and a spiritually dynamic (or even family-friendly!) environment. They couldn’t find such a ministry in 2005, but they found each other and the rest is history! Victor Navarro found Tom and Josi on the internet in 2007 and brought them his vision for a theological video series incorporating his unique rhythms and original choreography. The Unity Project was born and Victor became a founding board member of the new not-for-profit Institute.

In the meantime, Maurice Adderley, was keeping alive the vision God had given him for a Christian Arts Center which would nurture the artistic gifts of its students in an intensively supportive environment, preparing them for “planting” in the appropriate missions field. When the three finally had the opportunity to fully share their visions for ministry, the parallel development was wonderfully clear as was our need to work together to bring the vision to fruition. They decided to merge their ministries into a single Institute which can take Expressions of Joy to the next level: The Greenhouse Institute, now directed by Tom Walker, Josi Geyer and Maurice Adderley. With the attainment of 501 (c ) 3 status in 2008, Maurice joined the Board of Directors along with Alison Davis who has been with the Academy from the beginning as a principal teacher and key advisor.
